Our developers didn’t have the ability to inspect and gather the code from the prototypes. So I had to come up with a solution. Originally my goal was to provide a text based style guide. I felt that if I was descriptive enough, the developers would easily know how to apply the styles. I discovered that a text based style guide didn’t work well. I had to keep going back and forth with the developers because some aspects of the user interface were not matching that style guide. After creating visual style guides, the developers were more efficient at developing the dashboard as prescribed in the high fidelity mock-ups
